We love a blank slate! Makes it such a breeze, hardest part is deciding on a layout since the possibilities are endless!
Vertical Space
The Boys’ Playroom
As you can see from the picture above we are always happy to incorporate existing cat condos and human furniture into the vertical space design. We do not have any before photos but this was a new house, new construction and we basically had a blank slate to work with, so use your imagination! This room was decked out for two young boys who love to run and climb! They live with a senior female who was not so jazzed that new feline family members were added to the home. So the family rotates and time shares the house and when the boys are in "their room" they have a lot of fun things to do while the senior citizen is having quiet family time.
We build for all life stages, body styles and abilities. Notice that some of these runs come close to the floor for ease of access. Cats also cannot climb down the pole, they are not squirrels! These short steps allow them to descend.
People often ask if their cat will fit in the scooped beds. Turbo is a big boy, weighing in around 15# and you can see he has snuggled in nicely.
Sunny spots for purrfect perching
So we do not have before photos from this project but I think by now everyone gets the idea! The walls were blank, now they are felinetastic! This project turned out just beautiful. Vertical space is great when you have a small space to work with as it does not take up a footprint on the floor. This allows the humans to maintain their needs, furniture layout etc. and still gives the cats exactly what they need, more square footage, height, exercise, and fun!
A beautiful DIY install!
We usually only feature our custom installations on this page, but this client did such a beautiful job we just had to feature this project. This just goes to show you CAN do this yourself. We encourage you to "cheat off of our paper." Visit the many projects featured on this website and design something that fits your space. Just look at what you can do!
The living room feline wonderland!
Vertical space is not just for high volume feline households. Even homes with two or three cats can benefit and thrive from having places to climb, play and perch. Caeser and Fiona use their vertical space daily and love to stretch out and sunbathe as well as play "king of the mountain" by swatting one another off of a perch.
Remember that this provides an outlet for the cat's natural need to climb, condition nails and muscles as well as seek a safe vantage point up high.
Give your cat the gift of height!
Now, just two cats enjoying themsleves!
Happy cats, that is the goal!
When One Cat Becomes Five, One Must Catify!
When I met Jocelyn she had one cat and had just adopted a second kitty and was having trouble introducing the two. We worked through that together and they became friends. Then, after moving to her new home, Jocelyn decided she had room for more and adopted a pair of kittens (always recommended to adopt a pair of litter mates!) Soon after that she decided she needed some vertical space. Good thing because then #5 came along, as it often happens...:)
These few pics give you a close up view of how the corner was configured. Notice the cute "mouse hole" at the top of the pole. A feature reserved for custom installations.
